about the training
Apprentices learn to install, maintain, and repair many types of electrical equipment and electronic systems in residential, commercial, and industrial establishments. You will also learn to install, connect, and test electrical wiring systems for lights, heat, power and communication (data) in any premise, building, or structure.
application process
Applications are accepted in the office Monday through Thursday from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. Applications are also available by mail online. There is a $30.00 application fee payable only with a cashier’s check, money order, debit card or credit card upon time of application. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age at time of slection. Must be a high school graduate or have a GED. Must have completed one full year of high school algebra with a passing grade or one post high school algebra course with a passing grade. Must take the A.I.R. aptitude test and receive a qualifying score. Applicants must posses a valid driver’s license. ADDITIONAL INFOEducation Disciplines: AC/DC theory, analog/digital electronics, motor design and control, and industry orientation. Systems: instrumentation, PLC’s, data communications, security, high voltage termination and splicing, fire alarms, and air conditioning/refrigeration. A college degree path is available if chosen through Pellissippi State University or Middle Tennessee State University.
